I had a show down in Studio City, CA recently, and I wanted to share a bit of it with you folks. It was not an incredible show in “number of people in the audience” or “stellar sound” but it was however a great time and a bit of a boost for me as a musician. I have this song called “Feel Me”. I wrote this song after I botched my CD Release party for Somethin’ Concrete a while back.. I was really down on myself for falling short on my performance that night and the song was an outlet to get it off my chest. I have been battling with the ending of this song for almost a year, and I think I finally belted it out the way I wanted to at the Studio City gig. It felt so good to finally finish the song the way it was intended.
I am including a video of the performance below. I think you will see what I mean when you watch it. I do have to thank Phoebe Parros on violin for pulling that emotion out of me with her beautiful instrument and musicianship. I also included a clip of Phoebe playing some awesome country fiddle on John Prines “Paradise”.
The performance even inspired a blog post from my friend Andrew Spearman Blake who also shot the video and was a great help throughout the night. You can read his post here: http://www.116thavenue.com If you enjoy Andrews Music and writing, come on out to see us play this Saturday at the Clubhouse in San Luis Obispo.. It is going to be a great night. Doors at 7:30pm , $5 cover and all the money goes to the artists..
